mentoring for writers.
Want support for using writing as a soul-deepening process as well as for creative expression? We should talk.
I mentor those who are interested in using writing for spiritual integration, with or without the goal of publication. Some have come to me wanting to use writing only as a spiritual integration practice and in the process, have discovered they were poets or storytellers or essayists. Others have come already identified as writers, and I have helped them bring their work to the next level of congruency and authentic expression.
I have also supported numerous authors as they wrote their books, helping them let go of the critic and instead, enter the spacious regions of deep play as the source of their work. Whether or not your work is ever shared with others, this approach to writing is a profound and powerful spiritual practice.
Whether you’re working on a book or just beginning to find your voice as a writer, I can help you open the channels to deeper, more soulful expression and access the abundant source of powerful material hidden inside.
With a background as an authorized dharma teacher, Masters degrees in both writing and counseling psychology, and many years of experience in the publishing world, I can support your process spiritually, emotionally, creatively and practically as your writing opens and unfolds. I can help you open to the joys of a regular writing practice, work with blocks as they emerge, encourage you when you feel like giving up, and respond to work in progress. I’ll hold your hand and I’ll challenge you — all in an atmosphere of openness, non-judgment and deep play.
Writing can be a challenging process. Many writers carry difficult memories of having their work criticized, corrected and misunderstood by teachers and peers, as well as powerful streaks of perfectionism and the tendency to judge and compare. These patterns of thinking about our work, along with the vulnerability of exposing parts of ourselves that we might normally keep under wraps, can create unconscious blocks to writing about what most matters to us. I offer an open, receptive, supportive space to move through these old stories and get on with the powerful work of expression. In this context, the process of writing can be deeply transformative.
My mentoring is best suited for those who want to use writing as a means of self discovery, spiritual integration and increased awareness; who want to expand their capacity for articulation and deep inner sensing. This is writing as deep soul practice. I see my main purpose as helping you realize the work on its own terms and at your current capacity, so it stays authentically yours.

schedule a session.
Mentoring is done internationally by Skype or phone. Sessions are sliding scale. Please choose a fee from the scale that feels both generous and sustainable. Those who are abundant financially, please be generous and pay at the top of the scale so that I have the means to nurture the voices of those who have access to fewer resources. Writers in developing countries or with very limited resources who feel resonant with my approach but can’t afford my listed rates, let's talk about it in the free session.
FREE 30-MINUTE INtRODUCTORY CONSULTATION.

weekend solo writing retreat.
A solo writing retreat at a location of your choice supports you in a self-directed process that is tailored to your needs.
The retreat can be done to establish a strong writing practice, to work with the freewrites you've been generating in your practice, or to make headway on a book or other writing project. For less than the cost of a group retreat, you will receive a great deal of individualized attention, and you will have the time and space to digest and work with what you are learning. This potent process can bring you to a whole new level in your writing and expression.
How it works:
- We first meet by phone to discuss your intentions and create a structure and schedule for your retreat time. You decide where you want to stay and make the relevant arrangements. You could bring your laptop to a nice airbnb or a pile of notebooks to a tent by the river. The only requirement is that you have access to adequate internet or phone service for us to do our sessions.
- We will schedule a one-hour phone session on each of your two retreat days at a time that will fit best your process. We can meet early in the day to get you writing, mid-day to address concerns that came up in your morning writing session, or late in the day to look together at what you produced. If you would like more than one session a day, additional sessions can be added at the same cost as my package rates.
This package price includes 3 sessions: 1 planning session in advance of the retreat, and one session on each day of your retreat.
Email me with any questions and to set up a free 30-minute consultation to discuss the possibilities.
I just finished a solo long-distance writing retreat with Jane. To say I am thrilled is an understatement. Jane is a relaxed, attentive and wise teacher. I experienced her as a unique and exceptional guide — for both one’s writing and awakening.
